Bloxham Fundraiser

We raised more than £1,865 for the good causes as part of our Bloxham Pharmacy thermometer fundraising scheme.

We invited MP Sir Tony Baldry presented Bloxham Youth Club and the village’s St Mary’s Thursday Club with individual cheques.

Between December 2011 and November 2012, the pharmacy put a percentage of its monthly takings into a charity pot with the aim of giving something back to the local community.

We asked Bloxham Parish Council to nominate some local charities it believed would benefit from some extra funds and these were then voted for by the pharmacy’s customers.

The vote was so close it was decided the money should be divided between Bloxham Youth Club and St Mary’s Thursday Club, with the number of votes reflected in the donations. A total of £1,065 was donated to the youth club and £800 to the Thursday Club.

This is our first charity initiative and we decided to do it to support the people in the village. It was important as a relatively new, local pharmacy to help the community and celebrate the pharmacy’s three years in the village.

Bloxham Youth Club, which is held in the Jubilee Hall, ensures the village’s youngsters are entertained with pool tables and other amusements.

St Mary’s Thursday Club is a day centre for Bloxham’s elderly residents which meets in the Parish Rooms.

Cakes on the day were kindly donated by pindalicious cakes.
